Imaam adh-Dhahabee stated in Siyar A’laam an-Nubalaa (10/518):

Imaam adh-Dhahabee stated in Siyar A’laam an-Nubalaa (10/518):

Muhammad b. Yahyaa adh-Dhuhlee (rahimahullaah) said: I heard Yahyaa b. Ma’een say: “Defending the Sunnah is more virtuous than Jihaad in the Path of Allaah [on the battlefield].” So I said to him: “A man spends from his wealth, he tires himself out and fights, yet this one [who defends the Sunnah] is better than him?!” He replied: “Yes, by a great deal.”

The Ruling of Requesting Others to Supplicate for you

... So what is correct is that it is not right for anyone to request from another to supplicate for him, even if it be a righteous man as that is not from the guidance of the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wassallam) nor is it from the guidance of the Rightly Guided Caliphs.

Upon You Is To Follow The Narrations Of The Salaf [i.e. the pious predecessors]

Imaam Al-Awzaa’ee said:

“It is obligated on you is to follow the narrations of those who have preceded [i.e. the pious predecessors] even if the people reject you. And beware of the opinions of men even if they beautify it with their speech”.

Reported by Imaam Dhahabee in Al-Uluww, page. 138

 ---------------------------------------

Powerful Reminder by Dr Abdulilah Lahmami (Allah preserve and protect him).

Upon every person is to follow the narrations. We should be firm upon this and not waver, even if the people oppose or abandon us. Because the Sunnah is more beloved to the Muslim than any worldly gain and praise – because within it lies salvation from the hell-fire. And bid’ah is the door toward shirk, and the cause of many to fall into the hell fire. So no matter how many people abandon and oppose you, then it is important to stick to narrations of the sahaabah, and the salaf. So that your end is the best end with Allah.

Three things which are not from good manners

Translated by Zubayr Abbasi

Abû ‘Umar Al ‘Alâ (May Allah have mercy upon him) said,

“It is not from good manners that you answer the one who does not question you, or you ask the one who does not reply to you, or speak to the one who does not keep silent for you (to listen to you).”

TRAITS OF THE ALLIES OF ALLAH – IMAAM ATH-THAHABI

Ath-Thahabi may Allah have mercy on him said:

حفظ اللسان وملازمة الذكر وترك مخالطة العامة والبكاء على الخطيئة والتلاوة بالترتيل والتدبر ومقت النفس وذمها في ذات الله...

Guarding the tongue, and the constant pursuance of the remembrance (of Allah), and leaving off intermingling with the laymen, and crying because of sins, and the recitation of the Quraan with beautification and pondering (upon it’s meanings), and detesting the soul and blaming it for the sake of Allah…

and increasing in the legislated fasting, and consistency upon the night prayer, and showing humility towards the Muslims and connecting the ties of relation between the family, and pardoning, and an abundance of smiling and spending in times of poverty…

and the statement of bitter truth with gentleness and deliberateness, and commanding with good, and pardoning and turning away from the ignorant, and guarding the post, and fighting the enemy, and making the pilgrimage to the House, and eating the good and wholesome (halaal) at all times, and the abundance of seeking forgiveness in the last portion of the night (before fajr)…

These are the traits of the allies (of Allah) and the characteristics of the followers of Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.

May Allah cause us to die upon loving them.

Random Quote of the Day

Imaam Shaafi’ee [rahimahullaah] said: If self-amazement is concealed within your deeds, then recall the one whose pleasure you are seeking, which blessings you desire & which outcome you fear. The one who ponders upon this, his actions will become small in his presence.

Love of Fame & Praise

Al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Dhahabī (رَحِمَهُ اللهُ) stated:

“The person of knowledge should speak with a good and sincere intent. If his speech amazes him, he should remain quiet. If remaining quiet amazes him, he should speak, and he should never cease examining his soul, for indeed it loves fame and praise.”*

Dying upon the correct creed and methodology

On the authority of Yahya ibn Awn who said myself and Sahnoon visited ibn Qassar whilst he was sick.Sahnoon said to him, ”Why are you worried and anxious?

Ibn Qasaar replied, ”Death and going to my Lord.”

So Sahnoon said to him:

“Do you not believe in the messengers, the resurrection, the taking of accounts, paradise and the hellfire?

And do you not believe that the most virtuous after the Prophet ﷺ in this nation is Abu Bakr, then Umar And that the Qur’an is the words of Allah, not created?

And do you not believe that Allah will be seen on the day of judgment and that he rose above His throne?

And do you not believe that reviling the ruler, even if they oppress is impermissible?

Ibn Qasaar replied:

“Yes by Allah, I do.”

Sahnoon then said,

“Die if you wish, die if you wish. ”(Meaning if one dies in this condition with the correct creed and methodology then we hope good for him).
