Many Ascribe to the
Sunnah
From Shaykh ‘Abdus-Salām ibn Burjis (رَحِمَهُ
اللهُ)

Shaykh ‘Abdus-Salām ibn Burjis (D. 1425H) – رَحِمَهُ
اللهُ – said:
Today, those who ascribe to the Sunnah have become many and
those who wear the clothing of Ahl as-Sunnah [the people of the Sunnah] have become
many. This is to the extent that it is extremely difficult to distinguish Ahl
as-Sunnah, in reality, from other than them [who act like them].
Those people who wear the clothing of Ahl as-Sunnah and
pretend to stick to the Sunnah do not do this except to destroy the unity of
Ahl as-Sunnah wa al-Jamā’ah and to disunite their ranks and cause problems
between them in order to raise the flag of bid’ah [innovation] and dominate
with their troops.
However, they plot and Allāh plans and Allāh is the best of
planners.1
No matter who plots and schemes against Ahl as-Sunnah, Allāh
will uncover his veil and expose his affair for, indeed, no slave conceals
anything [in this situation] except that Allāh will make it apparent upon the
slip of his tongue or his facial expressions.

“…and they were plotting and Allāh, too, was planning and
Allāh is the best of planners.”
[Sūrah al-Anfāl (8:30)]*
