The Terrible Sin of Missing Obligatory Prayers

The Terrible Sin of Missing Obligatory Prayers

SHAYKH IBN QAYYIM AL-JAWZIYYAH

Ibn al-Qayyim, said:

No Muslims are in disagreement [about the fact] that intentionally leaving obligatory prayers is from the greatest of sins and from the most major of major sins and that its sin is greater than the sin of murder or [unlawfully] taking [other’s] wealth; than the sin of fornication and adultery, theft, or drinking alcohol- and that  [the one who intentionally leaves a prayer] faces the punishment of Allāh and His wrath, His debasement in this life and the Hereafter.

When the Ignorant Speak about Fitnah it Increases the Fitnah Explained by Shaykh Fawzān

When the Ignorant Speak about Fitnah it Increases the Fitnah

Explained by Shaykh Sālih bin Fawzān Al-Fawzān

Question: How can we distinguish between being quiet about Fitnah such that the silence is considered blameworthy and not delving into the Fitnah which is praiseworthy?

Shaykh Fawzān: The Fitnah should not be spoken about except by the people of knowledge and the people of insight, it is not for everyone to speak about it. If the ignorant person speaks about the Fitnah it increases the fitnah, but if the people of knowledge speak about the fitnah and clarify it, then it will be extinguished by Allah’s permission. So it is not for everyone to speak about the fitnah, rather  the only ones who should speak about it are the people of knowledge and insight, those who know the truth from falsehood and they know the way in which they should speak about it. It is not for everyone to delve into the fitnah, and speak about it and make fatwa and comment about this and that.

Slide him off into a hole

Haroon ibn Ziyaad said: I heard a man asking Al-Faryaabee about he who curses Aboo Bakr. He said “(He is a) Kaafir!” The man said: “Is he to be prayed upon (i.e., if he dies)?” He said: “NO!” (i.e., the narrator Haaroon) asked him: “What is to be done with him then, since he said Laa Ilaha Illa-Allaah?” He said: “Do not touch his body with your hands. Elevate him using a piece of wood until he slides off it into his hole.”

The Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said:

Indeed in Paradise there are apartments, whose exterior can be seen from their interior, and their interior can be seen from their exterior. So a Bedouin stood up and said: “Who are they for, O Messenger of Allah?! He said:” For those who speak good, feed others, fast regularly and perform prayer for the sake of Allah at night, whilst the people are asleep.

Do you want to achieve salvation? Look at what the Prophet peace be upon him advised...

‘Uqbah bin ‘Amir (May Allah be pleased with him) said: I asked the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him),

“How can salvation be achieved?” He replied, “Control your tongue, keep to your house, and weep over your sins.”

[At-Tirmidhi].

Imam an-Nawawi commented on this Hadith: It is better for one to spend his spare time at home in the remembrance of Allah, in the recitation of the Qur’an and the performance of acts of obedience, if one feels unable to benefit others or if one fears that he, as well as his religion will not be safe if one mixes with others. Allah greatly likes it that one repents of his own sins and weeps over them.
