Yunus b. ‘Ubayd (d. 139H) - rahimahullaah - said
to his son:
“I
forbid you from fornication, stealing and drinking alcohol; but if you were to
meet Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, with these (i.e. major sins) is more
beloved to me than you meeting Him with the view of ‘Amr b. ‘Ubayd and his
associates.”

Translator's Side Note: Amr b. Ubayd (perished in
144H), he was an innovator, one of the figureheads of the Mu'tazilah of his
time.
