Ibn ‘Abd
Al-Barr said:
They (The
Salaf) said: Whoever is impressed with his opinion will be humiliated, whoever
suffices himself with his own intellect will slip, whoever is arrogant against
people will be demeaned, whoever mixes with scoundrels will be despised, and
whoever sits with scholars will be respected.
