“So the people
in their origin are equal, all of them, male and female; this classification
(i.e. of race and groups etc.) came about later on, though in reality, from the
aspect of lineage they are all the same. However, they only fluctuate in virtue
based upon their actions. Allah the Most High said {The most honorable of
you with Allah is that (believer) who
has at-Taqwa} 49:13. Therefore His statement {O Mankind, We created you from a
male and female}, meaning Adam and Hawwa عليهما السلام…
As for the aspect of pride, then one should not have pride because of lineage,
pride is only due to Taqwa (i.e. being god-fearing), as Allah said: {The most
honorable of you with Allah is that (believer) who has at-Taqwa}; this is
whether a person is an Arab or non-Arab, white or black, just as Allah stated
{The most honorable of you with Allah is that (believer) who has at-Taqwa}.
This is what is considered with Allah. So Allah the Mighty and Majestic does
not consider lineage, He only considers al Taqwa. For this reason He said:
{Then, when the Trumpet is blown, there will be no kinship among them that Day,
nor will they ask of one another. Then, those whose scales (of deeds) are
heavy, these they are the successful.} 23:101-102, the lineage will not be
looked at. And He said: {And those whose scales (of good deeds) are light, they
are those who lose their ownselves, in Hell will they abide.} 23:103, so the
lineage will not be looked at. It did not harm Salman (the Persian), and Bilal
(the Ethiopian), and Suhayb (the Roman) that they were non-arabs and from the
freed slaves (of Arabs). Similarly, the fact that Abu Lahab and Abu Jahl were
from Quraysh and from the genuine Arabs, did not benefit them, because they did
not believe in Allah and His Messenger.”
