REASONS FOR
FALLING INTO SIN | IBN AL-QAYYIM
Imām ibn
Al-Qayyim – may Allāh have mercy on him – stated:
The servant
does not take up (performing) that which Allāh has made impermissible for him
except due to (one of) two reasons:
1) His evil
suspicions with regards to His Lord and (his thinking) that if he obeys Him and
prefers Him (over the sin), that He will not give him better than it from that
which is permissible
2) That he
knows this and (knows) that whoever leaves something for the sake of Allāh, He
will change it for him with something better, but his desire overpowers his
patience and his whim (overpowers) his intellect.
So the first
is due to weakness in his knowledge and the second is due to weakness in his
intellect and insight.
