A Servant Is
Always Between Thanking Allaah For His Blessing & Al-Istighfaar From Sins
Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn
Taymiyyah rahimahullaah said:
So the slave is always
between a blessing from Allaah for which he needs to be thankful (Shukr)
and a sin from which he needs to seek forgiveness (al-istighfaar). And
both of these are by necessity among the affairs that are always with the servant . For indeed he
does not cease to remain fluctuating between the Blessings of Allaah and His Favours, and he does not cease to be in need of at-Tawbah
(repentance) and al-Istighfaar (seeking forgiveness from Allaah for
sins). And for this reason the chief of
the son’s of Aadam, the Imaam of the Muttaqoon (the pious), Muhammad (ﷺ) would seek forgiveness in all circumstances.
The Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) said in a Saheeh Hadeeth , reported by [Muslim no. 2702]:
“O
people, turn in repentance to Allaah,
for indeed I turn to Him in repentance a hundred times during the day.”
