From Naafi‘: from Ibn ‘Umar -radiyallaahu ‘anhumaa- that he said:
“It used to be said: ”Every Believer has a supplication
that is answered when he breaks his Fast: either it is brought forward for him
in his worldly life, or it is stored up for him in the Hereafter.‘ He said: So Ibn
‘Umar used to say when he broke the Fast:
(ياَ وَاسِعَ الْمَغْفِرَةِ اغْفِرْ لِي)
[Yaa Waasi’al-Maghfirat-ighfirlee]
“O One Vast in Forgiveness! Forgive me.”
- Reported by Ibnul-A’raabee in his Mu’jam’ (no. 341), and by
al-Bayhaqee in his 'Shu’abul Eemaan’ (no. 3749).
Declared ‘hasan’ by Shaikh Aboo ‘Umar Usaamah al-‘Utaybee (hafizahullaah) in an article entitled ‘Tahqeequs-Sawaab fee anna du’aa-as-Saa’im mustajaab’.
