He who speaks regarding that which he does not specialize in will say strange things.

Sa’ad bin ‘Ubaadah (may Allaah be pleased with him) narrates that he said:

“O Messenger of Allaah, verily the mother of Sa’ad (my mother) has passed away,so which type of charity is the best (on behalf)?”

He said:

Shaykh Muhammad bin Ghaalib al-‘Umari (hafidhahullaah) said:

Self-striving upon sincerity is a great affair. And it is the methodology of the righteous and the way of the hardworking scholars.

So is there any greater regret; than that you draw closer by the deeds of the Hereafter to built you perishing worldly life.”

The Most Beloved To Allaah

Sahl Ibn ‘Abdullaah رحمه الله said:

“The one who carries out (only) acts of obedience to Allaah does not become beloved to Allaah, but the one who (also) stays away from what Allaah has prohibited from, and becomes beloved to Allaah. No one stays away from sins except one who is truthful (to Allaah) and one who is close (to Allaah). As for the acts of righteousness, both the righteous and the sinner carry them out.”

A Thought Came to my Mind... - from the Book Saydul Khaatir of Imam Ibnul Jawzee

Translated by: Faizal Kara for https://salaficentre.com

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Ibnul Jawzee (rahimahullaah) said:

A thought came to my mind about the calamities, hardships and great afflictions that takes place in the world; so I said: Glorified is Allaah and free is He from all imperfections! Indeed, Allaah is The Most Generous of all those who show generosity, and generosity necessitates forbearance and forgiveness.

So how do we look at those punishments? I contemplated and saw that the presence of many people is as if they do not exist. They neither study the evidences about the Oneness of Allaah (in His Lordship, Names and Attributes and that He alone has the right to be worshipped), nor do they abide the commandments and prohibitions of (Allaah), rather they carry on in their habits like cattle.

And unless the Islamic legislation agrees with what they want, otherwise they cling to selfish interests. And after obtaining the Deenar (money), they do not care whether it was (earned) through lawful or unlawful (means). They pray when it is easy for them, otherwise they abandon the prayer. Amongst them are those who openly commit great sins, whilst being aware of its prohibition. And it may be that there is a scholar with robust understanding, but his sins are grave indeed. So I came to know that even when the punishments are great, they are lesser (in severity) than their crimes.

And when punishments occur to wipe away sins, those (responsible for such sins) say: ”Which sin is this for?”and they forget what has proceeded (i.e. the sins). An old man becomes so insignificant to the extent that the heart become symphathetic, whilst he is unaware of the fact that this is due to not giving importance to the commandments of Allaah in his youth.

Sufism and Sufis - Fatwas of the Permanent Committee

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Q: I ask your eminence to reply to us in short about Sufism and Sufis, their  ‘Aqidah (creed) and what is the opinion of Ahl-ul-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah (adherents to the Sunnah and the Muslim mainstream) about them? What should Ahl-ul-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah do regarding them and how should we treat Sufis while they insist on their ‘Aqidah? They believe that they are on the truth even after the facts are revealed before them?

I ask Allah (Exalted be He) to benefit the people who are in need to understand this matter from your knowledge. May Allah guide all of us to what pleases Him. May Allah reward you.

A: Al-Sufiyyah (Sufism) is derived from Suf (wool) because it was their costume. This is the nearest meaning in language and to reality. As for the saying that Al-Sufiyyah is derived from Al-Suffah because they look like the poor Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) who used to go to a place in Masjid Al-Nabawy (the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah) which is called Suffah, or ascribed to Safwah (purity) because of the purity of their hearts and actions; all of these sayings are not true. This is because the ascription form of Suffah is Saffyy with double f  and y. These ascription form of Safwah is Safawy and because these two meanings are not in conformity with their attributes because of their ill-thoughts, bad ‘Aqidah and frequent Bid’ah (innovation in religion).

All the Sufi sects what is called now Tasawwuf (mysticism) are full of Bid’ah and the means which leads to it and corrupted thoughts which are against the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Prophet such as calling the dead  and Al-Aqtab by saying: Madad ya Sayyidy (Help, O my master). Madad ya Zaynab (Help, O Zaynab). Madad ya Badawy or ya Dusuqy (Help, O Badawy or Dusuqy), such actions of seeking the help of their shaykhs and Aqtab and believing that they are the spies of heart who know the unseen and what is concealed in their hearts and naming Allah  (Exalted be He) with attributes which he did not declare to Himself such as: Hwa (He) and Ah.

(Part No.2; Page No. 89)

Sufism has innovated Wird (portion of Qur’an recited with consistency) and not permissible supplications. They take the pledge from their followers to remember Allah (Exalted be He) in their rituals and acts of worship in specific names in congregation such as: Allah, Hay (alive) and Qayyum (the Self Subsisting) repeating them everyday and night and not repeating other names except with the permission of their shaykhs, otherwise he will be disobedient and has to fear the power of the servants of the names. Repeating these names must be accompanied by moving the head right and left, bowing and lifting, dancing, singing, clapping and other actions which have no basis in religion; in the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him). A Muslim not sit in their sessions and must keep away from mixing with them in ordernot to be affected by their ill-thoughts, Bid’ah or polytheism. He must advise them explain the truth to them perharps Allah (Exalted be He) guides them through him and approve the actions which are in conformity with the Qur’an and Sunnah. We disapprove of the matters which are against the methodology of Ahl-ul-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah in order to be safe. Whoever wants to know the conditions of Sufism and their ‘Aqidah in details, he may read the book of Madarij Al-Salikin by Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah, and the book of “This is Sufism” by Abdul-Rahman Al-Wakil.

(Part No.2; Page No. 90)

May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.

The Greatest Type of Reliance upon Allaah

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullah] said:

The greatest type of reliance upon Allaah is: Reliance upon in [seeking] guidance; establishing Tawheed; adhering to the path of the Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] and striving against the people of falsehood. This is the Tawukkul of the Messengers and particularly that of their [true] followers.
