Fuḍayl ibn Iyaḍ
(رحمه
الله) said:
Performing an action
for the sake of the people is Shirk, and abandoning an action for
the sake of the people is showing off (Riyā’). And (true)
sincerity is for Allāh to save you from both of them (Shirk and Riyā’).
