Allaah’s Messenger ﷺsaid:
“If you knew the amount of Mercy of Allaah, the Mighty and
Majestic, you would rely upon it and you would not carry out any action from
the good deeds.
And if you knew the amount of His Anger then nothing (from your
deeds) will be of benefit to you.”
(Recorded by Ibn Abee Ad-Dunyah in Husnu-Zan, Silsilah al-Ahadeeth
as-Saheehah no. 2167)

A few excerpt:
----
Abu
Dawūd (no. 1426) also reported from ‘Ali bin Abi Tālib (radiyallāhu ‘anhu) that
Allah’s Messenger (salallāhu ‘alaihi wasallam) used to recite at the end of his
Witr:
“O
Allah, I seek refuge in your good-pleasure from your anger, and in your
forgiveness from your punishment and I seek refuge in your mercy from your
wrath. I cannot reckon the praise due to you. You are as you have praised
yourself.”
NOTE: Added for the benefit of new muslims who cannot read Arabic:
Allaahumma ‘innee ‘a’oothu biridhaaka min
sakhatika, wa bimu’aafaatika min ‘uqoobatika, wa ‘a’oothu bika minka,
laa ‘uhsee thanaa’an ‘alayka, ‘Anta kamaa ‘athnayta ‘alaa nafsika.
“O Allah, I seek refuge in your good-pleasure from your anger, and in your forgiveness from your punishment and I seek refuge in your mercy from your wrath. I cannot reckon the praise due to you. You are as you have praised yourself.”
