Repentance for the one who did not receive the legislated prescribed punishment

Al Allamah Ibn Baz was asked “If a person steals or commits a major sin that results in a prescribed punishment then he repents to Allah and the prescribed punishment was not established upon him, will Allah forgive him or not?”

Answer:

“Repentance is sufficient, if a Muslim commits a sin that has a prescribed punishment such as Zina or theft, then they repented to Allah, repentance erases what came before it…”
