Our Purpose and How We Should Relate to the World

Shaykh Ibn Bāz, may Allāh have mercy on him, said: [Y]ou were not created so that you could eat and drink; you were not created to build palaces, plant trees, forge rivers, get married or the like of that, no. For you have been created in order to worship your Lord, […] to stand upright upon obedience to Him—far is He above any kind of imperfection – and to follow His Messenger ﷺ.

So it is upon you to stand upright upon obedience to Him –far is He above any kind of imperfection—and to follow His Messenger ﷺ since you have been created for this [purpose]. And everything on Earth has been created for you, for you to use in helping you [fulfill] Allāh’s command and leave off disobedience to Him. And it was not created for you to use in helping you [fulfill] your desires.
