Allah states in the Qur’an:
“And strain not your eyes in longing for the things We have
given for enjoyment to various groups of them (polytheists and disbelievers in
the Oneness of Allah), the splendour of the life of this World that We may test
them thereby. But the provision (good
reward in the Hereafter) of your Lord is better and more lasting.”{Ta-Ha:131}
Shaikh Ibn ul-‘Uthaymeen رحمه
الله mentioned:
“Meaning,do not look to the people of this World and what
they have been given of luxury and blessing,from the cars, and clothes and
homes,and other than that… all of that is the adornment and splendour of the
World, and the end result of adornment is that it withers away, dries up and
disappears,and it is the quickest of the leaves of the tree to wither away and
dry up. Hence it was termed as “splendour”, and it is (no doubt) a good splendor
in its glamor and beauty…
But,this is what the World is like, splendour that withers
away in haste…
